I promise to have a new, unrelated post up soon for those of you who are sick of hearing about exercise. But I wanted to update you that as of this morning, there are 23 people participating in the Challenge. And it's not too late for you to get strong, lean, and empowered with us! We'll all be thinner by the holidays (and ready to establish another healthy habit.)
I got up at 5:20 this morning, shocked at how dark it was--obviously, it has been several weeks since I have actually gotten up to exercise. I went on a power walk in the neighborhood for 1 hour, earning 2 points for today. It felt fantastic. While I walked, I listened to General Conference on my MP3 player, so I came home feeling uplifted, inspired, accomplished, and ready to face my long to-do list today. I am so excited that so many of you are participating because it is so much easier to do with peer pressure (and money on the line).
How did you kick off the challenge today? How do you plan to? Leave a comment! And if you haven't joined yet, think about it. We'd love to have even more join us.

I went for a three mile walk with my best friend and earned two points this morning. We are driving to Fresno today and I am planning on doing another 1/2 hour of water aerobics in the pool. So for now I have earned 2 points - but the day is young!!!
Full of energy Debbie!!!!
yay, debbie! i'm so glad to hear that you are starting off strong! keep it up. spending some time in the pool after your drive will be a great way to reenergize.
To start with I took a mid-morning break at work and took a 30 minute(I used part of my lunch break) walk around our campus and then I plan on taking a 30 minute bike ride this evening. Hopefully I can keep this up.
I've already done a 1 hour walk this morning. That's probably it for me today unless I get bored later...ha ha, like that is likely to happen.
Hey Michal... Great job this morning!!! I want to join in if thats ok! I just got home from the pool and gym where I biked for an hour (13.8 miles) and swam for 30 minutes! Thats my 3 points for today!
I walked to Curves - arriving 10 minutes before my buddy, I began to workout instead of hanging around for her, and then did our 30 min. routine - so it was pretty painless.
(She drove me home :)
Great idea, Michal.
Last night I cooked risotto - which was healthy and got a thumbs-up from the entire clan!
oh, michal your are such a show off with your early morning workout. :) Thanks for organizing this and getting me off of my lazy ...
How do I get my points recorded? Do I have to join some group?
Thanks.
Ann
you had to statr this now, didn't you? my life is way too crazy to participate, with relocating, and cleaning house, (does vacuuming/sweeping/mopping/packing boxes and cleaning up after three kids count?)and trying to sell said house, and just coming off of my ovary ordeal...blah, blah, blah! wish i could do it, but it just isn't happening here!
you go girl! maybe i will try to do it without joining and see how i do!
mahina,
i think that this will just be the first healthy habits challenge. keep reading--i'm sure we'll do something a little different next to help us survive the holidays.
it had already occurred to me that this was bad timing for you.
Monday I did some classical stretch which is definitely a workout for my poor tense and stiff body. Today, I enjoyed a tough yoga workout which left my right shoulder a little too sore---and tonight I found time to take Dylan and Emma and a neighbor friend Alex on a rowboat around the lake---powered by me!! I love having a lake in the neighborhood. Can't wait to get back to swimming, but Grant's off at high adventure camp running the Snake with the boys---and swimming requires me leaving the kids from 6-7 in the morning. Can't wait to get back to that, but I may hit circuit training in the morning. This is great!! I've never tracked my workouts before. It's a great thing!!
Michal - I'm having difficulties posting my numbers - what should I be doing to do this. I should have 2 points for yesterday and 1 for today. I took the day off and drove with Tom to Archer ID (North of Idaho Falls about 30 minutes) for a burial he had to do there and while I was waiting I walked around the cute little Archer cemetary several times for 40 mintues to be sure to get at least 30 minutes in. How is that for fun.
I didn't know that my husband and I were already participating! In spirit...how do I join up?
We bought a Wii three weeks ago, and have been sweating to Dance Dance Revolution ever since. Good thing it's addictive, as he's lost several pounds and I'm down almost a dress size!
i am soooo excited!! This is going to be soo much fun!!
