Alli, my favorite sister, called me at about 3:30 pm and said that she'd found a full-size used Bosch mixer on craigslist for $45!!! It has all of the attachments and works great. I had already despaired of finding one used on craigslist or ebay, since the going rate for a used one seemed to be closer to $200 by the time the auctions were over. That price was discouraging to me, as one reason that I am using my mixer so much is an attempt to save money and live within our means by making my own breads from scratch.
When I looked at the listing, my heart fell because it was 3 days old. There was no way it would still be available. But lucky for me, the owner had listed it as a "bosch machine" instead of a mixer--so it showed up with a bunch of power tools instead of kitchen gadgets, so no one else had found it. She let me know up front that the price was firm, which was fine by me. I tried to hide how absolutely thrilled I was at my
Thank you all for your condolences and kind words. My post yesterday was somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I truly was upset and concerned about how I'd function without a mixer. And it turned out that I only had to go 24 hours, with a loaner in the meantime! That, and other more significant blessings yesterday, reminded and reassured me that the Lord knows me personally, that he is aware of my little life and cares to bless me, even with all the turmoil in the world.
And now, for the give-away winners, who were selected randomly by my kids:
The winner of the cookies is: My Ice Cream Diary! (Nice, since she is sending me some jewelry this week, and I already owe her a CD.)
The winner of the cookbook CD is: Debbie (I'll drop it off--no need to send me your address)
The winner of the Princess Bride book is: Cellista
Congratulations, all, and thank you for participating! Send me your addresses (sleepymumATgmailDOTcom) and I will sincerely try to get these mailed off to you this weekend.

What awesome news about the mixer!
Oh what lovely doughy news. So glad you're back in the knead of things.
First all I love my Bosche- You are so lucky! I love to bake breads so we are going to have switch recipes! Yeah for you!
Woo hoo!!! I never win anything!!!! Also, congratulations on the mixer. Hope it works well for you! That would be terrible to be without one now that we are finally getting good "baking" weather!
I can pick up the CD one of these days - I usually see your husband about once a week.
What a great sister to find a good deal!
Bosch is German for really good blender. See I am a fan of yours too. Believe me I stroll bye every couple of weeks and see what's newsey with you guys. And as long as we are covering the many meanings of the german word Bosch, they also make car parts. Thanks for visiting the bizarre world of temparoo, hope you see for what it is a joke...except for the Stephenie Meyer interview that is seriously true, and I just posted part 2.
Take care.
I wish you could share all of the tender mercies that you witnessed. Those always are testimony boosters for me, and help me look at my own life and find them.
Yay for Alli. I am not surprised at all. She is so good at that kind of stuff.
Hum...so tempted to drive up for the tasting of its debut. :-)
Enjoy your new Bosch! I absolutely LOVE mine. I have the full size one also. They are the best mixers out there! True blessing that you found one the very next day you lost your old one!
Michal,
You know I am a silent follower and love your blog. I hope this Mixer lives a long full life. We have really enjoyed your prop 8 posts as out here in Utah we don't always understand the full impact and situation.
Also, on my last friday favorite post, my sister Leslie, left you a few notes. She was too shy to comment on your blog, although I promised her that you would not only remember her, but probably all the names of her children (you are so smart and nice like that)...Anyway, she is another silent follower and wanted to tell you what a great job you are doing. I think you can get to her blog from the comment on mine. You will have to check it out. Alright I shall return to my silence now, but I know you have a fan club now :). Kiss the kids. H
hurray for you. After 12 years of domestic life I should think about getting one myself. We are going practically gluten free and have started making a lot of me own bakery items. I used practically because I cannot fully pass up a fresh baked item in passing a little bakery.
Hooray!What a blessing! I love my Bosch too. :)
Happy mixing!
I love craigslist! And I love cookies. Needless to say, this is a post that makes me smile... a lot!
I can't wait to eat cookies that I didn't have to make or clean up after. Thanks for picking me.
Yes, Jesus loves you!
